This place in Malaysia was flooded and many homes were destroyed.
Watch us transform a piece of land into a home for a family of 7 in 3 days!
Even for us it was like watching a timelapse!!
It's amazing. Come and take a peak into my life :)

So our site is around 7 hours bus ride from where I live, there are buses provided though.
This time theres 2 groups of volunteers, building 2 homes.
There's around 30 people a group.
And within that group we are further split into 3 sub groups for structure, floor and walls.
I was a part of the structure group.
We had host families hosting both groups, around 60 people.
They allowed us to stay at their place and also cooked for us and the food was fantastic!
These people lived in the house the groups of volunteers built a year ago.
A few locals came to help as well. THEY WERE GREAT AT IT!

The first group building had their site just right beside where we stay,
But for us, we had to take another 20 minutes drive.
We stand behind 4x4 car/truck, sometimes some lorry will pick us up.
It is quite fun, since we don't get to do that in the city.
We had to dodge the trees along the way as well HAHA.

When we first arrived at site, this is how it looks like.
We were there for 4 days, but the first day is more like a workshop and all.
We didn't start building yet!
Anyway, It was raining SOOO heavily.

So now here is the real first day, where the structure team starts building the structure.
Without the structure, the other teams cant do anything, after all.
The floor team and wall teams were doing their panels respectively.
Amazingly, we were able to compete the whole structure in less than a day!
As you can see, the floor team had started placing their wood in.

As the structure was done on the first day. For the 2nd day...
The structure team needed to do tha gable roof (to cover the 2 triangles at the side).
It seems like a small part compared to the overall structure right? NO!
It is TOUGH WORK. The thing needs to fir perfectly, and drilling holes on steel is no joke.
But not many people can climb on the scaffolding at one time.
So i went helping at the floor team.
I think it's amazing how 30 of us work hand in hand,
without minding which group we are from.

Every floor panels were nailed in one by one. Estimated there's 1500 nails for the whole house.
Each wall panels were screwed in piece by piece as well.

At the end of day2, this is how the building looks like! AMAZING RIGHT?

Here comes day3, the last day.
From the picture above it seems like the house is completed right?
Time to focus on the interior partitions.
We, the structure group mainly focused on the chair there at the back.
But yet again, I felt like there's no need for 10 people to build a chair,
So i ended up painting the walls for the wall team HAHAHA!

This is the finished look.

And this is the family that's going to live here!

It was a great experience (and it will be great for my resume in the future)
I was regretting it at first, "Why did I sign up for this?"
I'm a typical city girl who loves the city more than anything.
I love our hectic lifestyle, I love our technology.
But at the end, the faces the family had as they unlocked the door for the first time really made me change my mind.
I mean, I still do love the city. But i now don't regret this A SINGLE BIT.
There might even be more in the future.

"Be the change you want to see in this world"
I believe we are all in this world to help one another.
If you have thoughts of wanting to help others,
Don't hesitate! There's nothing wrong with it.
Trust me, in works like this, everyone are kind hearted people.
Well, if not why would they even be there right?

This is the reason why I sub too!
I know it may not mean alot to a huge part of the world.
But i know it meant a lot to you and I know it can brighten up your day!
Let's, as the younger generation, create a brighter future for the world together.

See you soon!

wow! congratulations and good job on this.

yes, what you did may not have a sudden impact to the world, but for the lives of this family, or just a life of one of its members... it's already a big impact. and what you did could help this individual contribute something good to the world. ripple effect.

and thanks for subbing also. yes, your subbing makes me and a lot of fans happy :)
